Best Time to Visit Bali & Indonesia
Dry Season, April-October Ideal for Bali vacations, beach resorts, and fine dining experiences.
Rainy Season, November-March Fewer crowds and budget-friendly prices, but occasional heavy rain. We experienced it ourselves—it felt cozy while working remotely, but it definitely limited activities and floods can occur.
Peak Season, July, August, and December Expect higher hotel prices, busy beaches, and fully booked boutique hotels. When we visited in December, it didn’t feel overly crowded, but prices were noticeably higher.
Must-Remember Tips for Your Bali Trip
Money and Ca$h- Many shops and street food vendors only accept cash, so always carry some with you. In local markets and small shops, bargaining is expected—don’t be shy to negotiate for a better price!
Be respectful– Cover shoulders when visiting temples, and don’t step on Balinese offerings. The authorities will deport tourists who misbehave.
In Muslim regions, mosques broadcast early morning prayers. If you're a light sleeper, choose a hotel away from mosques, but remember—it's part of the local culture.
Avoid Bali Belly– Stick to bottled or filtered water, don’t drink ice in food stands. I got a Bali belly and it wasn’t as bad, so don’t worry about it :)
Beware of monkeys– They love stealing sunglasses, hats, and food in Ubud. Although the Rabies vaccine is available in Bali, it’s recommended to get a vaccine before the visit.

Getting around Bali & Indonesia
Taxis & Ride Apps – Use apps like Grab and Gojek for car or motor taxis.
Scooters – The most common way to stay mobile in Bali. Always wear a helmet. The traffic in Bali can get intense, and if you are not confident in your driving consider avoiding it and using taxis, it’s cheaper and safer.
Private Drivers – Perfect for a group of friends exploring multiple destinations.
Domestic Flights & Ferries – Essential for island hopping to Nusa Dua Beach, Lombok, and Komodo.
The only downside is Bali’s traffic when crossing zones, but overall transportation in Indonesia is affordable and convenient.
